RE: TIMELESS BEAUTY PHOTO'S Oh sherbert, girls, that first pic posted here by Teresa B. really took my breath away. The second one is as breathtaking in another way of course. But, I seriously wonder how females reacted to that young Ratzi... Many thanks Teresa and Ratzigirl.
Benefan: although the barber did a better job (10% better...) than the previous time, I'm now convinced that he is extremely incompetent,to say the least. The new super-short style for men is fine for young guys and sportsmen trying to incarnate a style of sixty years ago, with a distinct Nazi-like motif displayed (inter alia) in the absence of sideburns. I see this "see-through" ( to the scalp) haircut all around me but most older males don't take it that far. I wonder if Papa WANTS his hair shaved like this, or is he too sweet to complain about it, OR does he perhaps not even notice it?
It seems superficial to mourn his hair / lack of it, when much more important matters should engage our interests (scraping my throat in contrition), therefore this will be my last bit of aggression about the lovely pope's lovely hair. FINIS! (New Year's resolution 2) But I WISH I could meet that sadistic barber. |

Just one question - what do they do with the hair the barber cuts - just throw away? |

WHAT HAPPENS TO PAPA'S HAIR AFTER IT IS CUT? Frankly, Yvonne, I should think there must be a policy requiring that a member of the papal household be present during each haircut, and be responsible for gathering up every single strand that is cut, and put them together in a bag to be kept safely or disposed of properly where it is not accessible to any outside party, least of all to anyone who might market it or pass it on to someone who would market it. Otherwise, the world would already have been "flooded" with John Paul-II "hair relics"!!!!

PRICELESS LOCKS
I would bet there is no policy on the hair clippings but there should be, especially in this day of cloning and multiple uses of DNA. A more likely concern would be that the black market would make a fortune on Papa's white hair. Frankly, I am surprised that Maryjos hasn't already managed to bribe whoever sweeps up the floor in the papal apartments so she can fill a pillow with Papa's priceless hair. |

Ratzi's so dreamily dewy in this photograph that I am sure you will forgive the re-post because it belongs here!

When Paparaxvi posted this mega-photo, she captioned it - "Any comment is superfluous!"
Until Paparatzifan came up with the comment: "The hair of my dreams!"

Papa appeared unusually relaxed at the audience yesterday 1/4/06 - this photo from
the terra.es site was taken at the Aula Paul VI (Part I of the audience; Part II was held
inside the Basilica to accommodate the rest of the 15,000 pilgrims who came for the audience].

These photo's touch me very deeply. They somehow push my maternal buttons. Am I crazy?? I never had kids! Could that be it??? |

MAG6NEDIUM.
There's nothing wrong with you. You are just a typical Benaddict. You have all the classic symptoms. Actually, I have wondered at times why so many women of all ages are so crazy about Papa. I do think he taps into maternal feelings in a couple of ways. First, he is very sweet and childlike, very grateful for and awed by lots of things still. (Example: Did you see the photo of him down on one knee looking at a nativity scene under a Vatican Christmas tree? He had an adorable delighted smile on his face like a little boy.) Second, he just looks needy a lot of the time. With that shy smile and his humble behavior and manner of speaking, he looks like somebody who needs to be protected and looked after. That second factor alone would draw women to him like a magnet. There are a million other likely reasons for his popularity with women but I really think those two in particular account for a lot of his female fans. The only cure for the ailment is to feed it. Best of luck. |

You're right, of course, Benefan. And yes, I've seen the pic with him on his knees at the nativity scene.... On the other hand, apart from my "maternal" feeling for him, he also symbolises the father-figure and the Jungian "wise man" in my life. And what about the "artist"-figure - the artist of the word, "Goldmund"? And the "brainbox", the "cognitive giant"?And the "knight" serving at all costs the pure Ideal. And the eternal "contemplative" ? A Man for all Seasons. |
