This photo was taken in Girardot, Colombia (year 1972). Paparatzifan from the Italian Forum scanned it from a book she bought in Rome during her last visit earlier this month. I love this picture too Can't get enough of this kind of photos, they show a very spiritual man

Oooops, I started a new thread here. I wanted to post the pic into the picture thread.
Oh it was taken in Colombia ? It's so nice. Papa looks very relaxed. And so young.

Why not indeed have a 'foto della buona mattina'/photos for a good morning thread to balance the 'photos for a good night' one over on the picture section.
Great idea Wulfrune. The best way to start a perfect day
I love this early pics of our dear Papa. But I think he looks great at any age. ----------------------------------------

BUON GIORNO, girls! The idea of making this a "Good morning" photo corner is great, and thanks for starting it off...I must ask Ratzigirl how to modify our topic titles so we can have a line under each just to describe what things are supposed to go into each topic. |

TOO LATE
Wulfruna, I opened this page and ZONK!!! Too late. Now another work day has been shot to pieces. I love that first photo too. I don't know if I would call that look "spiritual". What it does show is one very good looking man in very casual dress (for him). I can't imagine how the South American ladies ever let him get back on the plane to Rome. |

I'm not waiting for the morning. Ratzigirl just posted this "upstairs" - and tell me if it is not a picture of Ratzi for any time of day, 24/7, 365 days a year!
RAtzigirl says it was taken in Ratzi's early years as head of CDF. If this is how he looked when he came down the plane in that newsreel Galantarie saw in 1982 which converted her to Catholicism, well, No wonder!! She described it once as like seeing "Moses coming down Mt. Sinai" - was Moses ever this ...UMMMMM? |

OH, MY GOODNESS!!!!
If that is what he looked like at the start of his CDF years, I'm amazed he didn't have dozens of women trying to pass themselves off as dissident theologians who needed to meet with him "to try to reconcile with the church". He would have needed armed guards. |

Hee hee, LOL!! I'm laughing so hard here I'm on the floor, and will need to be scraped off if I catch another glimpse of those photos....
Here are some of my very faves for your morning enjoyment (and, doubtless, edification)

Who can work? Sigh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha, ha, benefan! My first photo of the day was meant for you, but now there are enough STUNC photos to stop you working all day! I love the one from Papa's early years at the CDF - he could have given me counselling any time
I love the photos in which he's wearing glasses - one of Wulfrune's is particularly fetching! He looks so serious and studious - oh oh oh!!!!!!!
Hey, ladies, he looked absolutely edible at today's audience! I swear he looked younger and happier than ever as he was being driven around before the audience - that red cloak suits him. Dear lil Georg is so sweet, but, sorry Georg, we only have eyes for your boss!
Buona sera a tutti voi!
Love, choy, choy and more choy - Mary x

I'm going to break the pattern of the BUON GIORNO pictures so far, which have "favored" the younger Ratzi, to post this picture from yesterday's audience.
I spent half an hour trying to decide which of the last 3 pictures Ratzigirl posted on "PROFILO MIRACOLOSO" I would post here, but please go ahead and look up the other 2 I did not choose, because I could just as well have chosen them.
Joseph Ratzinger at 78 years, 7 months, and 13 days is EXCEPTIONALLY, EXTRAORDINARILY, ESPECIALLY......UMMMMMMM!!!!
On top of which he is the Holy Father and Vicar of Christ on earth! I feel so privileged to be a Catholic! |

EXTRAORDINARILY UMMM!!!
What a photo! What a smile!!! Definitely ageless, glorious, and spectacular! And very distracting at the office. Maybe we should post these photos on the weekends only so all work around the globe doesn't come to a screeching halt while we gaze appreciatively at Papa. |
