Dear Benevolens...Sorry I was not able to respond to your last post in a timely manner
during the Turkey coverage...Papino as spiritual-grace-made-visible is just so obvious
to those who can see with their hearts, and it is a good thing we have all the pictures
of him day after day as objective proof.
But today I just wanted to post two more pictures that capture his physical grace dynamically -
looking at them unfreezes the motion of the moment frozen on film.
The first one was his arrival in Ankara, of course. Beatrice said in her blog that 'he seems
to fly', although my own impression is one of 'floating' rather than flying. Regardless,
what better first image of him for the people of Turkey? A graceful, elegant and physically
fit man who comes to them in all humility and gentleness...
And the second one, as reported in POPE-POURRI earlier, graces
the cover of a book gathering together all the texts he
delivered in Bavaria, of which the Pope has reportedly
ordered a thousand boxed copies to give out this Christmas.
As soon as I find the original news photo in a 4x6 format,
I will insert it here. (Or if someone finds it first, then
please, go ahead and post it.)
A third photo, that I would also like to insert, is one of
the earliest taken of him as Pope - he is shown going up
the steps to the Torre San Giovanni in the Vatican shortly
after the Conclave. It has been used as the cover of
a German book about him as well as a poster titled "The church
is young...the Church lives' from his inaugural Mass homily.
