MASS FOR FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION: SUNDAY 15TH AUGUST
EWTN will broadcast this Mass live from Castel Gandolfo's parish church of San Tommaso, starting at 7 am British Summer Time. I'll leave you to work out your own times, but it will be during the night in the USA. Papabear, I can't begin to work out what time it will be in Hawaii, except that it will still be Saturday! However, this Mass is always repeated later in the day.

There's also a Solemn Mass of the Assumption from the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., but this won't clash with the one from Castel Gandolfo.

EWTN to Air Pope's Historic U.K. Visit Live

Exclusive Interviews, Expert Commentary Available

IRONDALE, Ala., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- (EWTN) – EWTN Global Catholic Network will provide live coverage of every public event during Pope Benedict XVI's historic visit to England and Scotland Sept. 16-19, numerous original productions on the life and works of Cardinal John Henry Newman, who will be beatified by the Pope during his visit, and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews.

Coverage will be seen and heard on all nine EWTN Television Networks worldwide, and can be heard in English, Spanish, French and German; on EWTN Radio Network, and at www.ewtn.com through live streaming video. (Find EWTN Television at www.ewtn.com/channelfinder and EWTN Radio at www.ewtn.com/radio/amfm.htm or on Sirius Satellite Channel 160.)

Special live coverage will be provided by EWTN News Anchor Raymond Arroyo, who has covered more papal events than anyone in the industry and who obtained the only English language interview in existence today with the former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.

"To my mind, this visit to the U.K. is to Pope Benedict XVI's papacy what Pope John Paul II's visit to Poland was to his," said "World Over" Host Raymond Arroyo, who will anchor EWTN's coverage. "Not enough attention is being paid to the historicity of this seismic moment."

EWTN's coverage of these events will include exclusive interviews with Deacon John "Jack" Sullivan, who prayed to Newman for healing after watching a series on the saint on EWTN and whose resulting miracle is responsible for Newman's beatification; Cormack Murphy O'Connor, former Archbishop of Westminster, who worked tirelessly behind-the-scenes to make this papal trip possible; Lord David Alton, a member of Parliament, who will discuss the government's view of the trip and what Catholics can expect; Westminster's current Archbishop Vincent Nichols, Anglican Archbishop Rowan Williams, and many others!

You'll also travel to the Birmingham Oratory and the rooms in which Newman lived and worked; Westminster Hall, where St. Thomas More was condemned to death; the Guild Chapel and much more.

EWTN Global Catholic Network, in its 30th year, is available in 160 million television households in 140 countries and territories. With its direct broadcast satellite television and radio services, AM & FM radio networks, worldwide short-wave radio station, Internet website www.ewtn.com and publishing arm, EWTN is the largest religious media network in the world.

SPAIN
EWTN will cover the complete visit of Papa to Santiago da Compostela and Barcelona, starting on Saturday morning 6th November.

The program is on the Vatican website as usual, but not in the EWTN guide, so I'm going to print it out

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This morning Papa concelebrated a beautiful Mass for the souls of cardinals and archbishops who have died this year. It was at the Chair of Peter: not much room for us, so I didn't go to Rome, though had thought about it. K. was there, but his job was to look after some of the cardinals- boo hoo!!!!! Guido Marini was the chief MC as always [Lucky old Summer!] and there was a new member of the Office of Liturgical Celebrations on Papa's right.
ASH WEDNESDAY
EWTN will, this afternoon, cover the ceremony at Saint Anselm and procession to Santa Sabina, then Mass with imposition of ashes LIVE.
GMT = 15.30 Rome Time CEST = 16.30
This is always a beautiful ceremony and best watched on television. I would never attempt to go there. Two friends from my parish had tickets and went two years ago, but only had seats in a side aisle and just saw the top of Papa's head at the end of Mass.
There is already a booklet of the liturgy available for download on the Vatican website in the Calendar of Papal Celebrations section.
Vatican to broadcast ceremonies for Holy Week, JP II beatification
Vatican City, Apr 7, 2011 / 03:23 am (CNA).- This year’s roster of traditional Holy Week television coverage from the Vatican will include the beatification events for Pope John Paul II, the Pontifical Council for Social Communications announced.
There will be three global broadcasts: the Way of the Cross at the Colosseum on Good Friday, April 22; the April 24 Easter Sunday Mass followed by Pope Benedict XVI’s “Urbi et Orbi” address from St. Peter’s Square; and the Holy Mass and Beatification of the Servant of God Pope John Paul II on May 1, also from St. Peter’s Square.
The Vatican will use a U.S. domestic satellite distribution system for its two worldwide broadcasts on Good Friday and Easter Sunday to allow local television networks and outlets to pick up the broadcasts with ease. The pontifical council offers its service free of charge to all broadcasters through Eurovision World Feed.
Satellite audio channels will provide television commentary in English, Spanish and French.
Thanks a lot for the information, Mary.
Btw, today I found this:
IRONDALE, Ala., 2011-11-01 07:00 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --
EWTN Global Catholic Network will launch a new television network in Germany beginning Sunday, Nov. 6. EWTN Katholisches TV will air Catholic religious programming 24-hours-a-day on Astra 1H, one of the world's largest providers of direct-to-home satellite services, reaching 135 million homes or 55% of all TV homes in Europe.
That is great for Germany, I am all excited.
