Have you heard about this Scottish singer whose dad's side is originally Italian?
I do like his hit single 'New Shoes', he's so cute and you can tell from the way he sings he's from Glasgow! I know a lot of Scottish singers, but Paolo's the first one who's not afraid of showing his roots when it comes to singing.

gianmaria i have a little question ... is right to use " i do like" ??
why haven't you used simply " i like"?

Yes it is, let me tell you: the auxiliary verb "do" doesn't only act in negative or questioning forms, you can use it also in positive statements WHEN YOU WANT TO UNDERLINE AND GIVE STRENGTH TO THE VERB YOU'RE USING. Examples: you really like dancing, so you DO like dancing. Imagine you're starting off a dialogue by saying "I like dancing", but you never entered a discotheque in your entire life... someone might ask you "hey, you said you like dancing, but as far as I know you've never been to the disco!"
You would probably then strengthen your statement about dancing and say "Yes mate, I DO like dancing BUT I don't like the way they dance in crowded discos!"
Got it?

Again, me, the boring teacher, I hope you all take it as something worth it.
Where's the error here? Guess, come on!
He doesn't... the auxiliary verb needs the BASE FORM of the following verb, even if we're talking about the third person, so... he doesn't SPEAK, and not "speaks", that's all.
By the way, it's true, he knows not any word of Italian, after all his Italian side belongs to 4 generations before!
His Italian ancestry hails from the Tuscanian city of Barga, and let me tell you this is a very special place: many people from this town emigrated to Scotland about 100-150 years ago, and they funnily enough ended up all in the same area around Glasgow, mainly Glasgow's west end, areas like Paisley, the city Paolo hails from.
In Barga they hold a Scottish festival each year, they also gave a special citizenship to Paolo.
My cousin's former boyfriend was born in Rome from an Italian-Scottish mother whose roots were originally from Barga!

"His other songs" is quite good, "the other songs of him" is incorrect because we're not talking about possession (that's when you use "of"). I'd say "the other songs by Paolo Nutini" or "the other songs performed by him", but what M87 says is the correct form.
