Nessuna reunion in vista

"Se non li avete visti nel 2007 li avete persi... è finita, non posso essere più chiaro di così". Così Peter Mensch, il manager di Jimmy Page, ha spento ogni speranza di rivedere i Led Zeppelin dal vivo. Da tempo si sapeva che il cantante Robert Plant non avesse intenzione di dare un seguito al concerto di reunion della storica band inglese, tenutosi nel dicembre 2007, e che Jimmy Page stesse cercando un rimpiazzo.

Da oggi sembra che tutto si sia concluso: Peter Mensch ha smentito quanto annunciato pochi giorni prima, ossia che la band avrebbe continuato senza Plant, ma stando alle più recenti dichiarazioni rese a Musicradar, Jimmy Page non avrebbe trovato nessuno degno di impugnare lo scettro microfonico dei Led Zeppelin e ha abbandonato il progetto.

Incalzato su quelli che poterebbero essere i progetti dell’enigmatico chitarrista, il manager ha risposto seccamente che sarà felice di renderlo noto ai media non appena il suo assistito prenderà una decisione. Dalle parole laconiche del manager si evince rassegnazione, come se l’epilogo di questa vicenda, nonostante manchi il lieto fine, sia l’unica buona notizia, con l’auspicio che la gente smetta di parlarne.

Nonostante le molte polemiche mosse dai fan sul fatto che senza Plant non avesse senso che i Led Zeppelin si ripresentassero sia dal vivo sia con un disco di inediti, colpisce il risultato di un sondaggio indetto dalla rivista inglese Classic Rock Magazine, secondo il quale l’importante per i lettori è che la band del “bombardiere marrone” (così venne soprannominato il disco che contiene l’ hit “Whole Lotta Love” ossia Led Zeppelin II) tornasse in attività, anche con un nuovo front man, probabilmente fidandosi ciecamente delle scelte intraprese dagli altri membri Page e Jones.

Robert Plant intanto sta per entrare in studio a registrare il secondo disco insieme ad Alison Krauss, un progetto nel quale il cantante sembra trovarsi molto più a suo agio. Che sia veramente finita qui?

A me risulta che l'ultimo cd dei Led Zeppelin sia "How The West Was Won" del 2003...ma mi risulta sia uscito un greatest hits nel 2007 "Mothership"

I greatest hits se li possono tenere visto che ho già tutto.

Mi pare strano che non abbiano sfruttato economicamente l'evento della reunion.

Penso di no, almeno a tutt'oggi. Si trova qualcosa su youtube, registrazioni di alcuni fortunati e qualche sprazzo preso dalle televisioni.
Magari potrà darsi che sfrutteranno monetariamente quel concerto, però non ha molto senso far passare così tanto tempo.

Riguardo alla mancata reunion... peccato. Sarebbe stato bello (dagli spezzoni del concerto su youtube mi sembravano parecchio in forma).

John Paul Jones dei Led Zeppelin forma una nuova band

John Paul Jones, storico bassista e tastierista dei Led Zeppelin, ha annunciato la formazione di una nuova band: i Minibus Pimps.

Il nuovo progetto del musicista lo vedrà al fianco di Helge Sten, artista norvegese ai più noto con il nome di Deathprod.

La band pubblicherà il suo album di debutto, "Cloud To Ground", il prossimo 3 marzo.
