>>Listen up, HBO. I've got your next guest star right here. Chatting up his latest project, TNT original "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear", Noah Wyle divulges that while his wife, makeup artist Tracy Warbin, has joined the masses of "Desperate Housewives" devotees, his TV loyalties lie with HBO's "Deadwood". When I suggest that he consider a guest-starring role on the gritty western series, the Emmy nominee almost gushes, "From your lips to God's ears!".

Until the call comes down from God or HBO, though, Wyle will keep himself busy with the Dec. 5 premiere of "The Librarian". In this adventure story, Wyle stars as Flynn Carsen, a thirtysomething bookworm desperate to stay in grad school -- he's got to earn his 23rd degree, after all. When he's finally booted from his university, fate brings Flynn to the New York Public Library and and job as "the librarian". Under the tutelage of Judson (Bob Newhart, who, with Jane Curtin, turns in the film's funniest performance), Flynn learns that he is now the protector of the world's greatest secrets. Just how secret? When he gets a little too curious, Judson stops him and calmly explains, "This box belonged to a girl named Pandora..."

When the Spear of Destiny is stolen from the library by the nefarious Serpent Brotherhood, Flynn goes on an adventure he never dreamed possible. Taking on an action role was a dream of Indiana Jones proportions come true for the ER veteran. "It's a genre I've always enjoyed watching," he says. "And it was definitely different from the last 11 years!".

Eleven years as an ER doctor, a stint as a librarian and an adventurer -- can Deadwood cowboy be far behind?>>
