era la stessa idea che avevano i Ravens ! davvero si pensa che pagare Grbac un sacco di soldi e rinunciare cosi a qualsiasi altra possibilita' di migliorare la squadra sia la scelta giusta ? Capirei prendere Bledsoe ma svenarsi per Grbac proprio no . Ricordiamoci che e' andato al Probowl non portando la squadra ai playoffs e l'ultimo suo anno e' stato disastroso .
Allora prendiamo Charlie Batch , non costa nulla ed ha giocato 2 buone stagioni .

i Dolphins hanno preso LArry Chester da CArolina , Chester e' un buon DT niente di piu ma il fatto che dei decenti backup siano gia presenti ( haley e Grant ) farebbe pensare che qull'opzione che vedrebbe GArdner spostato a DE non sia del tutto campata in aria . Gardner e' un talento ( e un salario ) troppo grande per non essere validamente impiegato ma 2 operazioni alla schiena ne rendono sconsigliabile l'impiego come DT ,quasto avrebbe il duplice effetto di salvare quattrini per l'acquisto di un buon DE e darebbe il tempo al giovane David Bowens di crescere .
Oggi era quasi dato per certo l'arrivo di Ricky Williams per una prima e quarta scelta , poi sono ritornati in gioco i Browns , vedremo , a me andrebbe bene , la sperana di trovare un rb buono come Williams con il 25th pick sono remote !!!
Certamente fino ad ora i dolphins sono la squadra piu attiva sul mercato .

Bene con la cattura di Ricky Williams i Miami Dolphins sono pronti alla prossima stagione prima di tutte le altre ( certo il nostro Draft non sara molto interessante :D ) .

DAVIE, Fla. (March 8, 2002) -- Ricky Williams was traded to the Miami Dolphins by the New Orleans Saints, who gave up their entire 1999 draft to get the Heisman Trophy-winning running back.

Miami traded a first-round pick in 2002 and a third-round pick in 2003 that could become a first-rounder depending on how Williams performs. The teams also swapped fourth-round selections in next month's draft.

"We never like to trade good football players, but this was a deal that we felt like we couldn't pass up," said Saints general manager Randy Mueller, who has been trying hard to get back some of the draft picks traded for Williams by former coach Mike Ditka.

"The extra draft picks allow us to concentrate on some of the other areas of our team that need to be addressed, so we can keep building this team through the draft."

The Dolphins lost out in a bid for two-time Pro Bowl center Olin Kreutz, a free agent. He rejected their six-year contract offer and instead re-signed with the Chicago Bears.

Williams may seek a new contract from Miami. After the Saints made him the No. 5 pick in the 1999 draft, rapper Master P.'s agency represented Williams and negotiated an eight-year deal with large incentives but low base salaries.

Williams' contract runs until 2005, and the Dolphins can activate an option year by simply sending a letter stating that is their intention.

Williams, 24, set the NCAA career rushing record at Texas and has topped 1,000 yards the past two seasons for New Orleans, including 1,245 in 2001. But he says he hasn't hit it off with Jim Haslett, who became the coach last year. He has been troubled by injuries, playing most of his rookie year with an ankle sprain and missing the last six games in 2000 with a broken ankle.

New Orleans took running back Deuce McAllister in the first round of the draft a year ago.

"We have a young player in Deuce McAllister who is ready to take over as our starting running back, and this move creates an opportunity for him to step forward," Mueller said.

Williams gives the Dolphins their best running threat since the 1970s, before Dan Marino turned them into a passing team.

The deal is the biggest for the Dolphins since at least 1985, when they acquired linebacker Hugh Green from Tampa Bay for first- and second-round draft picks.

e non solo scambio tutti i picks ma anche il primo e il terzo dell'anno dopo !!!!!!!!!
nonostante questo ( e a parte due ottime scelte come Bailey e Arrington ) ambedue le squadre hanno deluso dimostrando che le squadre non si fanno con le scelte o almeno non solo ( come hanno dimostrato negli ultimi anni Cleveland , Indianapolis e Washington )

altri 2 acquisti per i Dolphins , Leon SEArcy l'ex Pro Bowl e stato preso per il minimo contrattuale ma viene comunque da due anni in cui ha giocato pochissimo sara usato o come riserva o come alternativa a Perry , l'altro e' Brock MArion che era Free Agent ha firmato per 5 (!!) anni , MArion e' importante non solo per il gioco ( 5 intercetti ) ma anche per il carisma e la validita come returner , sara affiancato da Freeman

bene direi che è ora di rispolverare anche l'argomento dolphins.

con l'acquisto di Ricky Williams direi che sono proprio soddisfatto dei miei Dolphins.

La difesa è super ok, l'unico dubbio è chi giocherà al posto di Garderner che viene spostato Defensive End.

Per l'attacco prevedo grandi cose, anche se mi sa che saremo Williams dipendenti, comunque mi allieta la notizia che entro fine settimana Cris Carter deciderà se giocare con i Fins o darsi alla carriera di commentatore (che fantasia!).

Prego tutti i giorni che Fiedler si infortuni in preseason e stia fuori almeno un anno, così non si sa mai che scopriamo di avere qualche talento in roster (McNown? mah!)


Intanto è fresca fresca la notizia che Matt Turk è incazzato nero con i Dolphins per come lo hanno liquidato.

il rimpiazzo di Gardner e' gia stato trovato in Chester ( non un campione ma ... ) io spero che Carter NON venga a giocare a Miami per semplicemente una questione monetaria , per il minimo e' ovviamente ok !!
Turk ha avuto moltissimo alti e bassi e chiedeva troppo.

He's the top true center in this draft. Steve McKinney of the Colts is his brother. Seth may be a better pro prospect then Steve was coming out of A&M. Seth is a little ahead at this point though. Combines good strength, technique, and smarts, which is exactly what you need in a pro center. He knows how to play the position in its entirety. Not the most athletically gifted guy, and could be passed over for another center prospect for that reason. Has never missed a game in his college career. Has the potential to be a starter in the NFL for a long time, and is ready for the pros right now. Will likely be a first day selection.

Non male considerando che Ruddy non soddisfa tutti ...

al 4o il Tight End McMichael ( un ricevitore sopratutto , scarso nei blocchi ma con grandi mani , potrebbe tornare utile nella end zone e al terzo down )
al 5o il Cb Omare Lowe ( puo giocare in tutte le posizioni , ottimo negli special teams )
al 5o il Wr Simmons ( un combattente , veloce , qualche infortunio , poca potenza , un vincente , utile anche come returner )
