Obviously, there are lots of theories regarding orbs, and L.E.M.U.R. is currently conducting groundbreaking experiments to understand them further. Here's one intriguing possibility:
At "haunted" locations, we frequently find transient electrostatic fields moving around. The source of these fields is presently unclear. However, just as a charged comb will attract small bits of paper, these moving fields would presumably attract dust and other bits of tiny air debris, condensing them into a small clump of debris marking the center of the field (almost like a "flying dust footprint"). When a camera's flash bounces off these clumps of debris, the aperture may interpret them as circular or spherical forms. Video footage is even more valuable, showing the path of movement, especially enhanced by nightshot cameras projecting an IR light.
Brian Irish recently captured video footage of an orb-like anomaly exiting a television screen. The TV was turned off at the time, yet its internal capacitor remained charged. This actual video footage can be viewed online by L.E.M.U.R. Affiliates via this page:
