THE STROKES made a merry return to the stage where they first played a UK festival tonight (July 11) with a sensational show at Scotland’s T IN THE PARK.

The NYC band, who first played in 2001, followed a triumphant set from their heroes the Pixies.

A clearly emotional Julian Casablancas wrapped his mic in a Scotland flag, and called the Scots "the coolest people in the world".

The Strokes's frontman later joked: "Whenever we come to the UK we always get wasted".

Elsewhere in the set he climbed under the drum riser to sing one song, threw beer over Albert Hammond Jr and introduced 'Alone, Together' by saying: "This song is..actually, who gives a fuck what it's called."

The set was the full of the same songs as at the Oxegen Festival in Ireland yesterday - there were none of the reported five new songs, though they again covered The Clash’s ‘Clampdown’.

By the time the set ended, Hammond Jr was carrying drummer Fab Moretti off the stage, to huge applause from the Scottish faithful.

Inoltre gli Strokes stanno per chiudersi in studio per 8-10 mesi, con il solito produttore, per registrare il seguito di "Room On Fire"
