NEW WATERBOYS ALBUM - BOOK OF LIGHTNING - OUT APRIL 2


The new Waterboys album BOOK OF LIGHTNING is released in Europe on April 2 by W14/Universal Records. The album contains ten tracks, produced by Mike Scott and Philip Tennant, with musical contributions from Steve Wickham (fiddle), Richard Naiff (keyboards), Brady Blade (drums), Mark Smith (bass), Leo Abrahams (lead guitar), Jeremy Stacey (drums) plus long-time Waterboys alumni Roddy Lorimer (trumpet), Chris Bruce (lead guitar) and Thighpaulsandra (keyboards). BOOK OF LIGHTNING was recorded in London with the exception of one song recorded in Vancouver with members of Canadian art-pop band Great Aunt Ida, and another in Mike's home studio.

The album features the live favourites The Crash Of Angel Wings and Everybody Takes A Tumble, plus a new recording of You In The Sky, which appeared for the first time on last year's "Fisherman's Blues" remaster set. Some fans will recognise Sustain and Strange Arrangement from the band's 2004 acoustic tour. Mike has described the album as 'a beauty' on the band's myspace page and we understand it has a psychedelic sleeve and the booklet features a short story. As we receive more details we'll let you know.

L'ultimo non era malaccio... ma con Mike Scott non si sa mai...

Il 2 Aprile è uscito il nuovo cd dei Waterboys e nessuno ne parla... è gravissimo.


Lo sto ascoltando proprio ora e devo dire che sta crescendo ascolto dopo ascolto. Credevo fosse un album composta da brani del periodo fisherman's blues ma invece è proprio nuovo. L'unica canzone già conosciuta è "You in the Sky" ma qui in versione diversa.
Mike lo ha definito in un intervista il suo miglior album ma forse ha un pò esagerato.

The Thrill Is Gone.
And Is Never Coming Back.

UN bel ritorno per i Waterboys. 5-6 canzoni veramente belle. L'inizio e' imbarazzante sembra di riascoltare Dream Harder, da Strange arrangements in poi echi di APagan Place e Fisherman's e 2 splendide songs YOU IN THE SKY e EVERYBODY TAKES A TUMBLE.
Non sara' il disco dell'anno, ma potrebbe contenere la canzone dell'anno. ****

4 stelle anche per me.

A parte le prime 2 songs, 8 pezzi uno più bello dell'altro e l'apice nei due brani lunghi, "She Tried to Hold Me" e "Everybody Takes a Tumble", splendidi.

I Waterboys sono tornati.
Non siamo ai livelli di di "This is the Sea" e "Fisherman's Blues" ma basta e avanza.

Gran bel disco e grande Mike Scott.
