Dolphins: Minnis coming home

Miami reached agreement Wednesday on a one-year deal with homegrown product Marvin "Snoop" Minnis. The former Florida State receiver, who graduated from Miami Northwestern High, was a third-round draft pick of the Kansas City Chiefs. He had 33 receptions for 511 yards and a touchdown in his rookie campaign, but a broken toe prevented him from playing in all but two games in 2002. He has not been a productive receiver since; he was cut by the Chiefs during training camp this year and was inactive in a brief stint with the Bucs at the end of the season.
Miami's troubles at wide receiver are well-documented, and the Dolphins are desperate for some speed to stretch the field for playmaker Chris Chambers and the running game. If Minnis has anything, it is speed, but he has some work to do this offseason and in camp to prove to us that he is the answer.
