Former IBF lightweight champion Leavander Johnson, who was dethroned by Jesus Chavez via eleventh round TKO on Saturday night, is now fighting for his life at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. "Mr. Johnson suffered an event after the fight and the doctors and paramedics went to the dressing room immediately," said Nevada State Athletic Commissioner Dr. Tony Alamo, M.D. "One of our doctors, Dr. Albert Capanna, neurosurgeon, accompanied Mr. Johnson by ambulance to UMC Trauma Center. He was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma and underwent surgery. He is currently in ICU." Alamo also commented on the officiating. "We feel the referee Tony Weeks did a great job and we support his stoppage at the time." Our thoughts and prayers are with Leavander.

Si ho appreso pure io la notizia che Johnson è in coma dopo la difesa fallita del suo titolo. Le condizioni sembrano gravissime anche se sembra che i medici sono meno pessimisti che nei primi momenti. Speriamo bene per lui!
