Jon sarà uno schifoso perchè appena andato via ne parlava come se fosse un cane, e ora già dice che "I veri Iced Earth sono tornati"...Ma come cazzo si fa a non essere contenti?

ICED EARTH mainman/guitarist Jon Schaffer has issued the following statement:

"Hello, dear friends!

"Once again the winds of change are upon us, and this time I can say that I am very happy about the result.

"While out on the European tour I had several in depth discussions with many loyal ICED EARTH fans. A common theme of these discussions was how much Matt is missed. I agreed with the fans that things were not the same and that it was a very special period in ICED EARTH's history.

"When I heard several months ago that Matt [Barlow] was going to be doing a project in music again, I was thinking about contacting him and seeing what his intentions were. I didn't act on this because I was so focused on the writing of the new epic, and frankly, it just didn't seem realistic.

"Well, after getting out on the road and speaking with many of you directly, I decided to call Matt and see how he was doing and if he was interested in working together again. I am proud to say that he is coming back to ICED EARTH and we will be getting back to work in the studio very soon.

"Matt will be singing on Part 2 of the 'Something Wicked' concept CD and we will be looking forward to getting out on tour and delivering a series of ICED EARTH shows that will rival any in the history of the band. And there will be a proper DVD filmed from this period, something we’ve all been waiting for.

"I want you all to know that it was you who made this a reality. I have missed Matt's presence onstage and in my personal life in a big way over the past few years, so I appreciate your honesty in our discussions. It did help me realize the decision to move forward with pursuing this. The fans have spoken and we have delivered!

"You true fans know that I'm a straight shooter, I say what I mean and mean what I say. And though I value your opinions greatly, you must believe that this is a decision that comes completely from the heart and is not motivated by anything other than what feels the best for ICED EARTH. This is the way that things have always been dealt with, for better or for worse, but always honestly and from the heart.

"Tim Owens is a great and talented singer and I wish the best for him and his future on a personal and professional level.

"There will be more news soon as to further developments and plans. This will push back the release of Part 2 a bit. Not because we couldn't be ready to record in time, but because of a new addition to Matt's family in early 2008!

"I am very happy to announce that ICED EARTH is truly BACK!"

Il lavoro svolto con Ripper resta, a mio avviso, fantastico. Continuo ad ascoltare a ripetizione non solo Framing Armageddon ma anche The Glorious Burden.

Pensandoci, mi spiace veramente un casino per Ripper e Jon Schaffer è un completo pieno di merda.

Quando Matt decise di lasciare la band, Schaffer disse che "I demo del nuovo disco con Barlow erano terribili" e che "con Owens le canzoni degli IE suonano finalmente come le avevo concepite nella mia mente".

Adesso "mi mancava Matt sul palco", "con Matt tutto suona come si deve"...e Ripper si becca il benservito con due righette nel comunicato.

Non è così che si fa.

Spero che Tim si decida a rimanere in una band sua e la smetta di andare in giro a farsi trattare come uno stivale usato, perchè è fottutamente bravo...Si concentri sui Beyond Fear, torni nei Winter's Bane, va bene qualsiasi cosa, ma che si faccia trattare come un cantante del suo calibro deve essere trattato.

...o agari tra due giorni lo annunciano come nuovo vocalist degli Anthrax...

Edit: è comunque una notizia mostruosa e non vedo l'ora di risentire Barlow ruggire sopra il riffing granitico di Schaffer. [SM=x772952]

Ripper ormai è specializzato nel rimpiazzare cantanti storici che poi vengono richiamati, di questo passo potrebbe andare nei Crimson Glory per poi far tornare Midnight o nei Savatage per poi far tornare Zakk Stevens...
Ma a sto punto visto che ai Vicious Rumors manca un cantante perchè non Ripper???

Lì sarebbe relativamente al sicuro, con Rivera incarognito a dismisura e Carl Albert che oramai è stufo di far terra...Un disco buono lo farebbero, ma poi chiaramente ci sarebbe il ritorno di Brian O'Connor pt III, che mi farebbe felice come un bambino... [SM=g27828]

Sarebbe bello se Jeff Waters cacciasse quel frocio che ha adesso e prendesse lui negli Annihilator, dove però Tim sarebbe minacciato dai 18 cantanti precedenti [SM=g27828]

Oooh Yeah. Grande notizia e mi dispiace infinitamente per Tim, e mi dispiace ancora di più se mi rendo conto che probabilmente si troverà una band nella quale sarà sprecato e verrà prima o poi rimpiazzato.

Per quanto Jon Schaffer mi piaccia come musicista, come persona deve essere davvero uno stronzo. Io Ripper lo detesto (che poi manco per colpa sua) però mi dispiace per la sua carriera, di questo passo tutti se lo ricorderanno come un illustre tappabuchi.

In pratica le registrazioni del nuovo disco sono rinviate perchè Matt sta per diventare padre, non è che poi nato il piccolo Barlow ci ripensa di nuovo???

Poi tornando al buon Ripper, tra poco uscirà il disco solista di Mastro Lindo Scheepers, che si è un pò ingheito nell'ultimo Primal Fear, niente niente Mat Sinner chiama Ripper e fanno un disco paro paro a Jugulator (ovviamente per poi richiamare Mastro Lindo)...

Ci sarà ben un motivo se gli Iced Earth non mantengono una formazione per più di otto minuti filati...Lo dicevo a Wacken, leggendo il giornalino con la scaletta, mi lasciò perplesso il fatto di vedere una foto degli IE, un gruppo che adoro, e non conoscere nessuno a parte Tim e Schaffer.

La cosa veramente stupida poi è fare questo passo a metà del concept...Finirà per far ri-registrare Framing Armageddon a Barlow?

Resta l'eterna verità che il Metal senza Barlow in giro è un po' meno Metal, quindi tutto è nuovamente giusto nell'universo.

Ecco Ripper:
Tim Owens, che ha dovuto lasciare gli Iced Earth a causa del rientro in line-up di Matt Barlow, ha rilasciato la sua prima dichiarazione ufficiale:

"First off I would like to wish Jon Schaffer and the guys in ICED EARTH much success.

"Yes, this [Owens' dismissal from ICED EARTH] all was just horrible timing, and I don't think it was handled in the best way, coming two weeks before Christmas! But it is the best for me and ICED EARTH.

"I really need to move on and do other things. I really want to get BEYOND FEAR out there and I'm working on some other projects as well.

"Things happen for a reason, and yes, the winds of change are upon us and that is what I needed!

"The one thing I ask is to just leave it all alone.

"I would like from this moment on to leave ICED EARTH in the past and move forward, so I will no longer discuss IE!

"Like I said, I wish Jon and his family and the guys in IE the best of luck and a merry Christmas... Now let's move on and talk about the future!

"Thank you and keep it heavy."

Ripper negli Iced ha fatto davvero un bel lavoro, certo che il rientro di Barlow mi fa tornare in mente i vecchi album [SM=x772948]

Nuovo bassista per gli Iced Earth:
Freddie Vidales, proveniente da San Antonio (Texas) è il nuovo bassista degli Iced Earth.
Prima di unirsi alla band Freddie è stato bassista e frontman degli Infusion.
Le influenze musicali di Mr. Vidales, manco a dirlo sono state Iron Maiden, Balck Sabbath, Death e King Diamond... ed ovviamente Iced Earth!

16 Giugno: questa la data di uscita di "I Walk Among You", il nuovo singolo degli ICED EARTH.

"Something Wicked Part II" uscirà invece nel corso del prossimo autunno e, come tutti sappiamo, vedrà il ritorno di Matt Barlow alla voce al posto di Tim Owens, adesso con Malmsteen.

Barlow mi sembra in forma, e per quanto adori Ripper (anche nei Priest), è Matt il cantante degli Iced (così cone Halford è quello dei Judas)...

Ieri, 2 maggio, si è consumato il primo atto della reunion tra gli Iced Earth di Jon Schaffer, ed il singer originale della band, Matt Barlow, allontanato e sostituito, per un periodo di tempo, da Tim 'The Ripper' Owens. La riunita formazione, ha così calcato le assi del Chicago Powerfest a Mokena, Illinois. Ed ecco la loro live setlist:

Il sito web ufficiale degli Iced Earth è stato recentemente aggiornato con un'intervista audio al mainman della band, Jon Schaffer.

Inoltre, sul myspace della band, è possibil ascoltare audio samples dal nuovo singolo della band, "I walk among You", singolo che verrà pubblicato in Europa il 9 giugno, e che aprirà la strada a "Something Wicked part 2", il nuovo album che vedrà la luce in autunno.

Il nuovo singolo, di cui potete ammirare la copertina qui a fianco, presenta inoltre delle songs di "Something Wicked part 1" ri-registrate con Matt alla voce, e quindi rimasterizzate. Un piatto ghiotto, insomma, per tutti gli Iced Earth fans! Ecco la tracklisting di "I walk among you":

Nuova dipartita per Matt Barlow dagli Iced Earth. La separazxione amichevole è stata annunciata attraverso un comunicato dello stesso Matt, dove viene spiegato che la decisione è stata presa per l'eccessiva mole di impegni live della abnd.
Matt, padre di tre figli, vuole dedicarsi principalmente alla famiglia, ma continuerà nei limiti del tempo disponibile a fare il cantante.
