Dublin to be given use of 500 bicycles

Almost 500 new bicycles will be available for use by the public in Dublin from this morning.

Dublin Corporation is rolling out its new city bike scheme today.

The bikes will be available for hire from 40 locations around the city.

The idea is based on a successful French scheme. The bicycles will be free to use for the first 30 minutes each time.

A credit card is needed to subscribe online, with membership for one year costing just €10.

Il Bike Scheme si e' rivelato un successo!
Sono stati gia' superati i 50.000 viaggi e finora solo una bici e' stata rubata e poi ritrovata in brutte condizioni.
Intanto il Dublin Council ha gia' guadagnato 120.000 euro nonostante il fatto che il 93% dei viaggi in bici duri meno di 30 minuti e quindi sono gratis.
Finora le bici a disposizione sono 450 ma e' probabile che aumentino.
