I Googled for pictures of the Oratory cat and found this video. There's an advertisement first - so just let it keep running. Definitely worth viewing! |

PapaBear,
The video works fine. My sister has two male cats who are not yet one-year-old. They are EATING her Christmas tree. She is now afraid of putting up the ornaments. I predict the same fate for her tree as Simon's.

We finally gave up and bought a small artificial tree, but the two cats we had then - Heathcliff and Poll- always removed all of the tree decorations and did the same with the artificial one - just pawed at the coloured balls and got them down. They were, after all, intended as cat toys - according to cats!!!!!
But which would you rather have: cats or a Christmas tree. Cats, I say!! |

He looks fierce, but Dennis is a sweetie, now looking for a home. He was found wandering in a Dorset village and taken to Cats Protection. He obviously had a bad injury, but can eat, though the vet has said he'll never be able to close his mouth. My friend, Mary, is thinking of adopting him; that will bring her total to six! |

here is the fluffy kitten version of Dennis - our new family member.
We found him abandoned, hungry and smelling of motor oil... he's been the center of attention - a delight!

The two Dennises
Mary, poor Dennis the Menace must have been hit by a car to end up with such damage to his head. It makes me quite sad to look at him. I hope your friend does adopt him. He obviously needs a loving home.
I have to admit that I am much more drawn to Cowgirl's fluffy kitten. He has that sweet, wide-eyed, babyish look about him that is very endearing. I can't imagine why he was abandoned but I'm sure he has found a wonderful home now with Cowgirl's family. He is going to be one spoiled cat.

What a beautiful kitten! Are you going to call him Dennis, I wonder!!!!
It's heartening that for all the vile people in the world who abandon and badly treat animals, there are equal numbers who love and care for them - whether they are young or old. I'm always broody when I see kittens [rather like Papabear], but I must give my entire love to Sixpence at the moment. Just terrified that she'll start to go downhill, because she's my sole companion now that Hutch has gone ahead of us. |

He's called Nick. Because he was a belated Christmas present for Liam who is certain that God has sent him the little kitten, who sticks to Liam like gum. It's really adorable.
Our 'grey eminence' Stella has been rather indignant about the invasion of pure cuteness into his territory.
He'll have to get over it.
Mary: I'm sure Sixpence will be with you for a loooong time!!! |

David Cameron is set to welcome a cat to Downing Street in an effort to deal with No 10's rat problem.
The four-year old tabby, believed to be called Larry, is to join the prime minister and his family from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
The arrival follows weeks of speculation about potential pest control measures after a large black rat was seen scuttling past No 10.
Humphrey was the last cat to live in Number 10, from 1989 to 1997.
It is thought the Downing Street rat, which has been seen twice in recent live TV news reports, will become less bold in its public appearances following Larry's arrival.
Sardines from Moscow
A Downing Street spokesman confirmed the cat would be revealed to the world's press on Tuesday.
It is not known whether Larry will be granted full access to the Camerons' living quarters, although he is believed to family-friendly, in addition to his abilities as a "mouser".

Given his elevated status among pest controllers, Larry's name is appropriately a shortened version of Lawrence, meaning "laurel-crowned".
He is the latest in a long line of Downing Street cats, known unofficially as Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office.
Humphrey was adopted in 1989 after wandering into the No 10 as a stray while Margaret Thatcher was prime minister, and remained throughout the administration of John Major.
He moved out six months after Labour's 1997 general election win, with Tony Blair's wife Cherie denying reports that her dislike for the animal was to blame.
Humphrey died in March 2006 at the home of a civil servant who had cared for him during his "retirement".
The rodent made its move during a broadcast by the BBC's political correspondent Gary O'Donoghue. (First broadcast in January)
The last feline to live in Downing Street was former Chancellor Alistair Darling's cat Sybil. She reportedly did not adapt well to life in central London and moved to Mr Darling's Scottish residence.
During the 1920s, Labour Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald's cat - a renowned rat-catcher - had the rather regal title of Rufus of England, but was nicknamed "Treasury Bill".
Another, the topically named Munich Mouser, is mentioned as being "in office" under Neville Chamberlain and Winston Churchill during the 1930s and early 1940s.
During Tory Edward Heath's premiership in the 1970s, a kitten called Wilberforce was acquired from the RSPCA. He retired in 1986, with Margaret Thatcher reported to have bought him a tin of sardines during a trip to Moscow.
P.S. I think it's likely that Cherie Blair didn't like cats. I never liked the look of HER, myself !!!!!! |

NEW CAT SPOTTED IN VATICAN CITY During Holy Week, while on my way up to the Bronze Door to collect my tickets, I met another mad cat lady and a new cat, Nerina, who is black, of course. Although the lady spoke no English and I speak very little Italian, we managed a conversation of sorts. Nerina is a resident of the colonnade area and she feeds her there. Sadly, there was no dish, the food is just place on the ground. I wish I had taken a spare dish.
On my latest visit I didn't see Nerina or her carer. I think both had been driven indoors [don't know where Nerina would go] by the heat.
No photo. I didn't have my camera with me. |
