Probabilmente avrei potuto scriverlo meglio, ma io lo ritengo migliore come album... da "esterno", cercando di spogliarli entrambi dal valore "extra musicale" [dove per "extra" intendo al di fuori del puro valore dell'album]. E visto che ne parlate, io preferisco assolutamente Welcome to Sky Valley, sarà che lo sento più mio deviato com'è. Non per qualcosa c'è dietro la mano di Barresi!
Beh, perchè ormai da un bel pò di tempo si fatica a star dietro a quello che scrivi, lasciatelo dire. Credo che una volta badassi molto meno alla forma ed il risultato era tutt'altro. Ma, come dicevano in tanti, nevermind...
Non c'è un motivo preciso, è sempre il discorso per cui trovo i Tool fin troppo ostici per i miei gusti e ad un certo punto mi fermi lì. Undertow è semplicemente il meno autocelebrativo, qualche richiamo ai Led Zeppelin (Sober su tutte), un produzione meno invasiva... Mi verrebbe da dire più diretto, ma è inesatto.
Welcome To Sky Valley ha forse il difetto di essere il lavoro di mezzo (tra il loro album migliore fin lì ed il loro ultimo prodotto, si intende) di una band che ha sempre fatto del sound caratteristico il suo punto forte, tra Blues For The Red Sun che setta uno standard (Supa Scoopa And Mighty Scoop è un gioiellino, ma non puoi fare a meno di accostarla ad una Thumb. Idem per Writhe con Demon Cleaner, ad esempio) e ...And The Circus Leaves Town, che già guarda ai Queens Of The Stone Age (Jumbo Blimp Jumbo, El Rodeo e Spaceship Landing, ad esempio).
Ah, vien da sè che se mi snobbi Siamese Dream per Mellon Collie... ouch!
