International Literary Award “CORTI NOSCE” - Third Edition

‘The Square, the Street, the Crossroad: about ourselves meeting the Other’


On the occasion of the fourth edition of “Le corti Nosce”, a cultural event that will take place in the small cities of Miggiano, Montesano Salentino, Nociglia, Poggiardo e Surano, located south of Salento – Province of Lecce - Puglia, from 27th July to 5th August 2007, the promoters, in cooperation with local government and local associations and sponsors, launch the third edition of the International Literary Award “Corti Nosce”.
The purpose of the ‘Corti Nosce’ event is to re-evaluate some communal architectural spaces, the ‘corti’, located into the historical core of these villages of Salento, which represent a fundamental nuclei for familial life, and essential places for common trade.
Considering the social essence of these urban spaces, the competition is based on the investigation of all places where people meet each other, with all their differences, affinities, ways of thinking; the common and uncommon traits that reflect in the others or in their other ‘self’; our wishes, our fears, our questions, our hopes and the fantasy, the characters, the thoughts and the socially expected and unexpected progresses.


The Award Board


Rules

1) Submission is open to all Italian and foreign authors that would like to present their works on the theme: “The Square, the Street, the Crossroad: a narrative of the places for meeting with the Other”.

2) Works must be in short story form. Submission must be no longer than 8 pages (30 lines x 60 characters = 1800 characters each paper, including spaces). Texts must be hand-typed or computer-printed (in the case of the latter, they must also be sent in digitally). The font size must be 12.

3) Works can be written in the native language of the author, provided that they are accompanied by a translation in Italian or English, the official languages of the Award.

4) Every candidate can present no more than two works, every work in 9 copies. Each work must be certified by the author as being authentic and previously unpublished.

5) The work will be delivered anonymously. Personal data of the author must be sent in a closed envelope contained in a bigger envelope with the anonymous copies of the works. Works with any indication of the identity of the author will not be considered.
Author’s data must include the following:
-first name;
-family name;
-complete address;
-telephone number;
-e-mail address;
-authorization for use of personal data only for purposes pertaining to the Award Institutions (D. Lgs. 30/06/2003, n. 196);
-in case of underage author, authorization for submission signed by parents or legal guardian;
-signature of author.

6) Submissions will be judged by a qualified jury, whose decision will be final.
Winning authors will receive the following awards:
1° Prize: € 600.00 and a fellowship for a 1500 hours Web Master Course organized by A.E.D.E. – Lecce (Association Européenne des Enseignants, ‘qualified’ for formative courses following D.M. 177/2000 – art. 3 – c. 5 and D.M. applicativo del 27.04.2001) in cooperation with L.U.S.E.F.E. (Libera Università di Studi Europei e Formazione di Eccellenza).
2° Prize: € 400.00
3° Prize: € 300.00

All entry material, including text copies become property of ‘Corti Nosce’ Board. Each nomination must be submitted with the author consent to publish his work upon the requests of the Award Board and renouncing to any rights.

Submissions that do not satisfy the rules described above will not be eligible. No notice of rejection will follow.

8) A winners’ shortlist will be published on the official website, on 18th July 2007. Winning authors will be notifues by mail or e-mail before July 18, 2007.
The Award Ceremony will take place during “Le Corti Nosce” event, in Montesano Salentino – Lecce (Italia), on 5th of August 2007.

9) Each nomination must be submitted with the author consent to all previous rules.
