Ratzigirl recently captioned one of her pictures with a beautiful tercet:

That would be a dream come true, but I don't think even that would do the trick. On the RFC forum we have eyewitness accounts that describe his eyes as intense blue and others as hazel.

Benefan... The way to resolve the confusion is to stand right in front of him and stare for 10 or 15 minutes. At that point, we would either a) know definitely what his eye color is, or b) be catatonic for the rest of our lives, or c) get hauled off to some ancient Vatican prison by the Swiss Guards. Regardless of the outcome, the experience would be worth it.

Thank you !!! Beautiful photos of our dear Papa. His eyes are incredible I haven't seen such beautiful eyes before. I think the colours are changing with the light. On the cover of "Salt of Earth" his eyes are very light blue and on other photographs they seemed to be dark brown with a little blue edge. This is very rare. I've read of an indian actress, her name is Aishwarya or something like that, she has such colour changing eyes too.

Hello girls! What a super pic that last one is!!!! Oh!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the lovely verses - of course everything sounds much softer and gentler and more loving in Italian! Mmmmm! Wish I knew it well enough to be able to post in it.
Perhaps his eyes do change colour. In my experience, they are brown in the middle [is that the pupil? I never paid attention in biology -all I know is that I LOVE!], then green and merging to grey at the edges.
But, his eyes are just SO very expressive that they do make us feel like.....svenire!
Yes - I'm prepared to risk the dungeons of the Vatican prison! At least we'd be close to his presence.

TOTALLY NOT FAIR!!!

Listen, y'all, this Good Morning section is definitely not fair to those of us who have to go to work. I just opened it up and there is that beautiful photo of Papa at the CDF, looking his best ever. Now, how in the world am I supposed to focus on stupid stuff after that? Really, a Good Night section would be easier on the system--I think. It would allow for pleasant dreams at least. And today is Monday too, loads of stupid stuff to do. OY! Y'all are absolutely heartless!

Benefan I know exactly what you mean... I CAN'T look at photos of Papa while I'm at work because if I did... well 1st I'd start giggling then I'd start saying words like stunc, smuack, ooch, Ratzingeritis, Benaddict and Ratzi-coma!!! Yes, I do agree that work and sleep for that matter are major annoyances... : Don't they know we have far more important things to do then all the silly little projects they have us doing at work???

SIMONE - IT'S 4 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING IN NEW YORK AND I'VE JUST LOGGED IN TO POST A TRANSLATION, WHEN WHAT SHOULD GREET ME BUT YOUR BEAUTIFUL SURPRISE!!! Wherever did you get it from? Ratzi at the time he was ordained as priest - I thought it was the picture on the remembrance card for that day (I saw a small reproduction of it in one of those Bilderstrecke right after he became Pope) but I've just checked and although the picture must have been taken at the same time, yours is better.
