Thank you, Ratzigirl, for re-posting "The Fabulous Prince" for Nan. Yes, indeed, it's out of this world......and Papa appeared to be so far away in prayer.
Love the recent photos of Papa with children, especially the first one.
Does he become more beautiful and luminous by the day......or is it just my imagination ????
Un abbraccio a tutti voi! Mary x
Thanks aren't need!!! It's a pleasure!!!! |

I like the photos which are made so closely you can see if Papa is smoothly shaven .
Or you can see that his beard would be white if he would have any.
Remember that popes at history used to have a beard. I prefer shaving men but try to imagine our Papa with beard. [Modificato da Maklara 16/12/2005 10.57] |

@Maklara
That gives us something to think about. But I'm like you I prefer men without beard. And it would only hide Papa's face. |

Jill, I love your signature:
'You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
and I don't know what to do, 'cause I'll never be with you.'
It's from the song from James Blunt, isn't it ?
These words are REALLY true.
I imagine, we'll all together meet at St. Peters Square and sing this song for Papa as loud as we can, till Papa opens his window and has a look, what kind of cats are crying there......
And about the beard:
The pics, where you can see every single little white hair in Papa's face, they are so terrific, they make me breathless.....
I like men with beard, and if Papa has one, I think, he may look just like St. Claus...what a lovely idea...

This picture appears in a much smaller scale in "Milestones" but Paparatzifan reproduces the large color format from the original Italian edition, "La Mia Vita" (part of a wonderful series of photos taken when Ratzi visited Peru in 1986).
Ratzi is probably the first Pope (or Pope-to-be) ever photographed with a llama [unless JP-II was, which I don't recall], whose wool is as snowy white as Ratzi's ciuffo, and how many other cardinals have climbed to Machu Picchu, the legendary Incan citadel up in the Peruvian Andes?

He doesn't look very comfortable, does he? But you can tell, Ratzi has seen the world! |

FORUM "PHOTO OF THE YEAR" POLL Ratzigirl has initiated a poll to choose the "Photo of the Year' in this forum. Here is the translation of her announcement yesterday:
---------------------------------------------------------------
After considering at length what could be done to provide our Forum with new impetus, I have decided to start this poll -
I have other ideas in mind, obviously, but I have chosen this
for a year-end push. If you have any ideas, please don't fail to let me know.
Between December 16-23, we should all have time to choose three pictures of Benedict that illustrate “At this moment, I see your joy…” – namely, the pictures that you think best express his "sunny" quality, his joy and his tenderness…
I know that there are too many photos to choose from and that the subject is quite broad, but it will be a good opportunity to go through your archives or review the photo threads on the forum. [If you find the little boxes with the red cross instead of a picture, it means the picttre has been withdrawn by its host site – I will try to restore them ASAP if possible].
Rules:
- Please submit only photographs taken in 2005 –
This includes the months before April 19.
- All such photographs – with or without copyright marks -
shall be eligible.
- Each one can submit no more than 3 pictures.
- You may go through all the photo threads in this forum for
your choice.
- You may submit amateur photographs or other pictures you have
access to, provided they were taken in 2005.
- You may also submit personal art created by any method, but
not photomontages.
- PLEASE POST YOUR 3 PHOTO “NOMINATIONS” IN THE
THREAD ‘SONDAGGI” UNDER “GRANDE CONCORSO…”
--------------------------------------------------------------
As you will see, Ratzigirl and a few others have already posted their 3 personal pic(k)s.

A llama!! these animals are lovelly!
I was born in Perú and I often go there and sometimes I even go to Machu Pichu....the problems is that for arriving there you must first go to Cuzco.....almost 4000 mets. altit. and when you just get out from the airplane iyou feel as a "zumbi", as you're going to die. Many people go directly to the hospital.
So this is pure evidence that our Papa is great sportsman too.

IF YOU BELIEVE IN SIGNS... Ratzigirl found this photo of Ratzi as Archbishop in the 70s -
it is not a photomontage, but the ray of light directed at his forehead is striking in more than just the literal sense!
Eugenia commented after seeing the photo that on April 19, she noticed a sunbeam piercing the grey clouds over Rome at the moment Benedict XVI first presented himself to the city and to the world. (See her account posted earlier in "The Experience of April 19").
Then Ratzigirl found this symbolic photo from among the hundreds shot yesterday before the Vatican Christmas tree was lit - a sign, perhaps, that the Holy Spirit is watching over our Papa and the Church.
