GORGEOUS THING WITH RUFFLED HAIR
That's one thing I've always noticed about Papa. He NEVER fusses with his hair. The wind may be blowing it around or it may fall over his forehead and he must obviously be aware of it but he never raises his hand to brush back the stray hair or smooth it out. He just isn't vain about it at all. You can see Piero Marini standing next to Papa staring at the stray locks sometimes and you know he is dying to reach out and put the hair back in place but doesn't dare. Personally, I think there needs to be an official female papal acolyte whose sole function at liturgical events is to run up and brush Papa's locks back in place when they stray, sort of like the nurse that mops the surgeon's brow during surgery. I wonder if there would be anyone interested in a job like that....

I have the same opinion..official female papal acolyte will solve the hair "problem"...but I can imagine anyone from this forum doing this job and brushing Papas' hair more often than would be nesseccary. |

We definitely have to do something about his hair. Ok, if nobody else wants to do the job I volunteer. So, if they broadcast the next general audience on Wednesday watch out for me. |

Until the Vatican itself publishes these historic pictures online, we will make do with these pictures from leoste.it, which appear to be the pictures published by Osservatore Romano. The pictures purport to show Benedict signing his first encyclical on Christmas Day, 2005.

JIL,
I think that is very generous of you to volunteer to be the first papal hair acolyte and I know we will all be watching for you and cheering you on at the next general audience. However, you do know that you have to use a comb or brush to put Papa's hair back in place? You can't just run your fingers through his hair, especially in front of all those people and TV cameras. |

Oh Teresa, these photos, I don't know what to say....
Have other cardinals been the object of so many photo shoots as Ratzi appears to have been at the CDF?
You wonder how he found the time to do something else.
What an amazing man! |

Delightful images from AP via Yahoo of Papa releasing a dove at today's Angelus. I know these are provisional (ie, temporary) until someone posts pictures properly stored on ImageShack or another host, but hopefully they can be replaced with something permanent shortly).
But Ratzigirl already has this one on Image Shack:
From adnkronos-
Two doves were released but one of the doves re-entered the Papal study. "The dove wants to stay with Papa, but it will be set free," the Pope said. The reluctant dove eventually did fly off.
The Pope was assisted by two children from the Catholic Action of Rome.
Their message for the Pope: "The children of Catholic Action of Rome love you very much. On the feast of the Epiphany, you said you would count on our prayers to help you do good as Pope. We want to tell you that even if we may be a bit noisy, you can count on us. We in Catholic Action want to give witness to everyone, together with you, of our desire for peace....We are confident peace will be won because we have an exceptional Master in Jesus."

He has tried on a variety of headgear, and he obviously enjoyed trying on this fringed jacket presented to him by some Mexican bishops. What a gratifying recipient! And COCCOLOSSISSIMOOOOO!

Here is Sylvie's montage of the Angelus today. (I can rest easy, knowing these images won't disappear!) They're wonderful photos of a joyous and boyish Papa, and I hope we will soon have them in large format.

O my dear !!!! Absolutely SMUACK pics.
And thereby there's one of my favours with Papa sitting in the armchair scratching his forehead. That's so cute and nice.
Yes, you're right. I think that he was the most photographed Cardinal from all. I'm always grinning about the idea, they've made proper photo sessions with him. But no wonder about that, his beauty is comparable to a male model ----------------------------------------
