WOW!!!

Flo, the pics are really stunning. Thanks so much. I had to cut and paste the url for the Vatican site above into my browser to get it to work properly but the photos there are spectacular too, lots that I have never seen. Turning the pages in "the book" was a bit awkward but the photos were beautiful. (Click at the lower right hand corner of the book.) Thanks for letting us know about it, Flo.

Actually, I think this will work without the pasting:

Thanks benefan

did you watch the two videos. You can see don Georg crying and Mgr Vallini trying to comfort him

Flo: I have seen the bit of video where GG is crying. Cry baby! He should have more composure than that. I know of others who were close to tears, but didn't let their emotions show until they were well away from the cameras. Love, Mary xx

Yes, I did, Flo.

It certainly was an occasion for crying. I am surprised that Papa was so calm. In a way, he looked shell-shocked, like he was sleep-walking through a dream.

POPE EMERITUS FIRST PICTURE

ROMA

Flo! My gosh, how wonderful those photos are! I am overwhelmed and sooo sad. Sigh.
Thank you so much.

Gabriella:
Thank you so much for the first pic of our papa emeritus.
I am so glad to see him walking peacefully with GG even though I have a bad conscience that I like a photo that somebody took by hurting Papa's privacy.
The word "paparazzi" again has a double meaning.

Simone, you hit it on the head. Mixed emotions: really happy to see a current picture but sad that he does not get any privacy.

Photos in CHI magazine
Like Willow I'm both pleased to see a photo of Papa and also annoyed that his privacy has been broken just days after he has settled in at CG. I can't get that video to work, Gabriella.

Try to keep smiling, friends!

Maryjos and all ... did you see that Papa's crest that was planted in floral on the Vatican grounds (where? I can't remember ... I saw it in a video on EWTN) ... they just dug it all up! I know it's to make ready for the new Pope's crest, but still ...

I think it was one of the Rome Reports videos from yesterday - and it was silent, which made it seem even more weird. I suppose they had recently planted the flowers for this coming summer. It's all horribly tragic and is something we'll never get over. Pope Benedict has been my inspiration for nearly eight years - I've had a difficult time, as you all know, and knowledge of his presence and prayers have kept me going. Now I've lost my husband two years ago.......and Benedict himself.

We MUST try to remember that he's still alive, living a monastic life of prayer. It's difficult.

I saw the pic on Chi magazine too. I am also very happy that he can still walk and is in good health. BUt I was angry that the paparazzi cannot leave him alone!
I also saw that his Court of Arms flowers have been removed, very very sad. I am glad he is still alive.
