Thanks so much, benevolens, for taking the time to make those screen caps. I love them, especially the 4th one from the top. What a great age that was for Papa!
I wish we could cut out and post the section of the video where Papa appears but I suspect we would need a professional film editor from Hollywood for that.

Thank you, Simone, for this video. It was shown live on EWTN, too. Papa seemed to be so impressed and interested in his little boy sort of way. He really loves anything like this.
The lady's hair amused me! She didn't need a perm to make it do that. |

They are great. Now I know where you have been lately. I'm very glad to see you back on the forum.
I don't know if Papa has lost weight but he seems very frail to me and a bit unsteady on his feet. He used to walk with such a quick, sure step but in some videos I've seen lately, he seems to be almost wobbly. I hate to see him decline physically. I really wish he could remain strong and healthy for quite some time.

I noticed these things too and am concerned for our Papa. He has lost weight. His neck is thinner and his sash [zingulum -I didn't know the correct word, benedetto.fan] was falling far too low. You'd have thought someone would have done something about that - tightened it or made him a shorter one. Yes, he does need to be helped much more in the sanctuary. You'll have noticed how Mons Guido and Mons Konrad made sure he didn't trip over his vestments and helped him up all the steps.
It's been over six years now! We can't expect him to stay the same for ever. But I'll always love him. I pray that God will let him stay with us for some years and that he'll be able to continue his writing and teaching.
Just pray for him every day!

In Venice, I could not see him very closely
and then I found him in good shape, overall.
Only the voice was hoarse.
But looking at this picture I'm worried.
It is really very difficult to tolerate
the inevitable physical decline of a person whom we adore.

I noticed too that his sash was falling too low in Venice and in Croatia but that was better last wednesday at the GA

A good photo, Flo! The sash is now tighter, but Papa is indeed losing weight. We have to face the fact that six years has passed, six very happy years. They have been some of the most spiritually fulfilling years of my life. We have had such good times, talking about Papa's beautiful hair as well as more serious matters. I get a little sad, but I have lost my husband this year and so I'm aware of the passage of time anyway. I shall always, always love Joseph Ratzinger. It doesn't just go away if it's deep within us.
He has beatified his predecessor and I pray God gives him enough time to canonise John Paul as well. I just hope God spares ME long enough to see Benedict XVI raised to the altars.

I love our Papa very much, and he saved me from a path of life that would have led me to devastation .. with a wake up call my stubborn self needed (as little as I wanted it at the time) I came back to the Church, and now my life is on track finally. Im sure that our Lord will keep our Papa with us (and keep him healthy) while the world still needs him. Which it does desperatly! Just pray for him everyday ! Long live our Pope the great the good!!

It's wonderful that Papa had such a positive effect on your life and it is even more wonderful that you have been strong enough and brave enough to build on that. It certainly sounds as if you are doing what you were meant to do.
I feel that Papa has helped me a great deal too. I know as he ages his life will get more difficult but I hope and pray that the Lord will help him through the difficult times and enable him to stay with us for many more productive years. We certainly do need him.

yes, to me papa looks also rather wobbly, not only when he was "boarding" the gondola. did you noticed how careful he sat down on his chair on saturday at the meeting with the gypsies??? i move in the same way when i've backache and i'm several decades younger....

What a moving testimony from Hannah!!! I know Hannah and am praying for her while she takes her exams. She is a living example of how a young person can be brought back to the Church by our amazing Papa.
Yes, I shall definitely be shouting SANTO SUBITO when that time comes. It's a time I dread and I think the Lord will leave him with us for as long as it takes for him to sort out the Church. This is NOT a criticism of John Paul. They just have different approaches.
