Beautiful photo-sequence!

uh-hum...
Those photos of Papa B at Midnight Mass and then of JP2 with his most trusted friend... they warm my heart even on a cold winter night with a fresh coating of 8inches of snow!

VATICAN CITY, DEC 30, 2005 (VIS) - Today in the Vatican, Benedict XVI received the participants of the XXXIII International Congress of the International Federation of "Pueri Cantores", gathered during these days in Rome. This association was created in 1965 by a decree of the Cardinal Vicar of Rome, as a moral institution, proposes the spreading of liturgical music interpreted by children in their scholastic years.

The Pope welcomed the President and manifested his appreciation for the "spirit in which your federation realizes and intends to pursue its mission in the Church, at the service of the liturgy, giving the entire world a message of peace and brotherhood".

The Holy Father continued: "It is particularly opportune during Christmas time to sing praises to the Lord and to express our joy to him, following the example of the Virgin Mary, who was the first person to give grace to the Lord for the Mystery of the Incarnation, with her 'Magnificat', which the Church repeats from generation to generation. (...) Vatican Council II recalled how greatly the Church appreciates the role of those who, with their singing, contribute to the beauty of the liturgy. Because Christ 'is present when the Church prays and sings' and we are united with the heavenly Church".

The Holy Father underlined the importance of the mission of the Pueri Cantores today in "helping the People of God to pray with dignity, because sacred music is a 'ministerial function' in the Divine service. (...) When the Church prays, sings or acts, the faith of the participants is nourished, the souls are raised towards God to give Him spiritual homage and to receive grace with greater abundance".

At the end of the speech, the Pope gave the Apostolic Blessing to all the members of the Federation of Pueri Cantores.

Teresa, that's not fair to label a photo "Simply Irresistible" and then not show it. All I'm getting on my computer is a big gray square saying, "Image not available." I'm sure it was a gorgeous picture of our gorgeous Papa and I'm sure we would all benefit tremendously from looking at it, especially on this gloomy, overcast last day of 2005, but IT'S NOT THERE! To make matters worse, I don't see you logged in so now we will have to wait till you get back on your computer. Waiting.... impatiently.....fading fast....

Ohhhh I see it... and yes it is... benefan, try right clicking in the box and then left clicking on show picture - that usually works for me. zoinks... my computer is sizzling and throwing sparks!!!

You can't just call ONE photo "Simply Irresistable" - I think nearly ALL of Papa's pictures are irresistable. But how good, that you don't know what I call my photos sometimes.....

One of my favourites from this morning's Mass.
I love the chasuble with the design of bees. The whole Mass was beautiful.......they get better and better.
Piero Marini - I love you! You were so attentive to Papa today, checking his pallium, handing him a glass of water after the long Preface he chanted so delightfully......

This photo was not a nominated photo, obviously, although it goes with the theme "In that instant, I see your joy". But Ratzi-Lella from the main forum has just informed it that this photo is shown as a double-spread in this week's issue of GENTE (the Italian equivalent of PEOPLE), so I am sneaking in this thumbnail, so as not have a separate 'camauro' post!

BRAVO!!

Good choice of photos. I was torn between voting for the photo with Emmanuele and the profile of Papa smiling broadly. Papa looks so joyful hugging Emmanuele, like he's playing a game with him and just won and Emmanuele looks happy and almost comforted. It's a great photo.
