A girl walks into a psychiatrist's office and exclaims, "Doctor Robert! Can you help me? My boyfriend tells me that I am obsessed with the Beatles and that I don't act naturally! He says that if I keep it up, it won't be long until he finds another girl!
"Oh! Darling!" I said, "You can't do that! I'll be in misery!" He just turned away from me and gave me no reply. The doctor sat back in his chair and stated. "Come and lie down on the couch and I'm sure we can work it out.
Now tell me why you came to be so obsessed with this rock and roll music?"
"Okay." I replied, "You know what to do." I laid back on the couch and closed my eyes.
"I remember it as if it were yesterday. In my mind, there's a place where I can go when I'm down and I feel like I'm a loser. I'd imagine myself as a blackbird flying across the universe, here, there and everywhere. I'm as free as a bird.
I want to tell you, Doc, that I've had many dreams like this before. The next thing I know is that I'm not a bird anymore. I'm sitting in my car, but I'm not driving! I let my boyfriend drive my car. I'm thinking, "What goes on?
Am I a day tripper or what?" I hear a song on the radio. It's the Beatles singing Magical Mystery Tour. My boyfriend changes the channel.
I said, "Honey don't! I was listening to that!" So I switched it back. I guess I should have known better, but by the look on his face he decided to let it be. He turned left down Penny Lane, then right onto Blue Jay Way and came to a stop. We got out of the car and stepped into a strawberry patch, just the two of us. All we could see was nothing but strawberry fields forever! My boyfriend turned toward me and said, "I want to hold your hand." I knew at that moment it was real love. As I turned to join my hand with his, I realized that something was wrong. I've just seen a face, a different face, other than my boyfriend's.
He said, "Do you know my name?" I said, "Yes, it's Paul! That's your name!" He said, "Yes it is." I thought, "Yo baby, it's you! I've got to get you into my life!" I felt
so many emotions at once. I felt like laughing, but my knees went weak, so I'll cry instead.
I said, "How did you get here?"
"I got here with a little help from my friends," he replied. Then he turned and pointed to them. Lo and behold, I saw the rest of the boys!
There was John, George and Ringo standing right in front of me! I was speechless!
Paul spoke up again and said, "I just wanted to thank you girl." "Thank me for what?" I asked. "For listening to our records," he said, "and keeping us young and
alive in your heart forever." I just smiled, as I heard him say, "We have to get back now."
At that moment, I felt like a little child and said, "Do you want to know a secret?" "Sure," he replied. "In my life, there was nobody, 'till there was you," I proclaimed, "I promise to give you all my loving." "Don't worry, I'll be back." he replied.
And with that I saw him smile as he turned away to join the others.
George stated, "It's going to rain, you know?" Then I heard John say in a funny high-pitched voice, "Run for your life! Look! I'm melting...I'm melting." Ringo just looked up at the sky, and then proceeded to put on his shades. "I'll follow the sun," he remarked. And
in an instant, they were gone.
The doctor broke the spell by saying, "Okay, your session is up. If you got trouble, call me, anytime at all." I got up from the couch and said, "Thanks Doc. That means a lot. I'll
think about the things we said today. I've got a feeling, that in time, my relationship with my boyfriend will soon be getting better." As I walked out of his office and stepped into reality, I woke up and realized, I'm only sleeping.
