I FTD di Marzo 2015!!

Nuovi gustosi FTD in cantiere! oltre al già annunciato libro dedicato allo show delle Hawaii del 1961, arriverà finalmente "this is Elvis" in veste ufficiale su cd e l'album Elvis Now in doppio vinile.
Si vocifera inoltre che è in programma un nuovo lavoro dedicato alle american session.

Personali riflessioni in ordine sparso...

Finalmente "This is Elvis" su CD a livello ufficiale!
Le bonus, provengono dalla versione lunga del film ? Ora non ricordo perché questa versione non la guardo da anni, ma mi sembrerebbe così...

"Elvis now" in vinile doppio è il benvenuto !

Lo spettacolo del 1961... Non discuto sull'eventuale bellezza del libro, ma su un presunto miglioramento del sound... Resta pur sempre una registrazione amatoriale e penso che la MRS nella sua emissione abbia fatto tutto il possibile.

Aspettiamo un altro lavoro sulle sessions del 1969. Quelle non mi stancano mai.

This is Elvis è un tassello che mancava nella nostra discografia CD. Come ben sai solo i pirati sopperirono a questa lacuna con un'omonimo bootleg (due, per la precisione) ... che è arrivato a toccare cifre un po alte...e che ora si svaluterà di sicuro. Benvenuto dunque a This is Elvis. Spero possa accadere la stessa cosa per altri storici LP come la serie "a legendary performer" vol. 3 e 4 e il "I was the one".

Il libro dedicato a Peal Harbor 1961... sarà sicuramente una ghiottoneria per i collezionisti dei libri FTD, ma come già detto per i vari "summer of 61", "welcome home elvis" etc, il cd non offre nulla di nuovo e personalmente non lo considero fondamentale....a meno che non siate dei collezionisti di libri. L'audio dello show potrebbe esser stata miglioratao? difficile crederlo, la MRS fece già a suo tempo un ottimo lavoro... mai dire mai, comunque.


Elvis now in versione vinile. Beh, qua siamo nel campo del collezionismo puro, quello del vinile. Un pezzo bellissimo che arricchirà le vostre stupende collezioni viniliche!

C'è un errore nella tracklist che è stata divulgata. La traccia 24 del primo cd, suspicious minds, è la versione dell'Aloha del 14 Gennaio 1973, e non quella del midnight del 12 Agosto 1970.

Il CD 1 contiene quindi gli original LP master, completi dei vari overdubs come nella versione originale.

La pubblicazione del vinile Elvis Now e il set libro/cd Rock Around The Bloch è stata posticipata di circa 2-3 settimane. nessun problema invece per la pubblicazione di This Is Elvis, per la quale saranno rispettati i tempi in programma.

La versione di "Suspicious minds" emessa nella colonna sonora di questo bellissimo film, infatti, era tratta da Aloha from Hawaii. Si trattava, però, di una versione accorciata di oltre un minuto e 20" rispetto a quella dello spettacolo di Honolulu.

Anche altre tracce vennero accorciate: "Too much monkey business", "I've got a thing about you baby", "Merry Christmas baby" e "Memories".
