Apart from the hot news of ‘why the West needs to attack Islamic Iran to save Israel’ - Smolian pirates are receiving a good media coverage lately. These pirates (carrying more than paper-cutting knives as the 9/11 hijackers did) have hijacked seven cargo ships so far. Interestingly, the western powers, which are always eager to collaborate when it comes to invading a Muslim country - declared their inability to stop such acts - just like the ‘war on terror’ bogey! In fact US military chief, Admiral Michael Mullen, admitted that he was “stunned” by the pirates’ reach. When they hijacked the cargo ship ‘Sirius Star’ (allegedly owned by Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal, of Somali coast - not far away - American, Russian, Turkish, Italian, British, and Greek frigates and warships were patrolling the Gulf of Aden under a UN mandate.
