Dear friends,
the Vostok crew is currently preparing to leave back
home by plane via Progress Base on December 25. Alex, UA1ZCK/R1ANC,
will meet his father Wally, RU1ZC, on Progress Base who will work on
this base in 2007. There is a good chance that Alex will be QRV from
Progress on this occasion. At this time, it is still unclear if Wally
will use his traditional call R1ANZ from Progress Base or R1ANP in
2007. More news on this operation will be placed here soon.
Propagation on HF are not very good at Vostok these days. Openings to
EU are between 1500 and 1730 UTC and Alex can be contacted on 14160 SSB
or 14041 CW via short path. The crew is fine and preparing for their
departure. Temp. is currently ranging from -25 to -30 degress C. On
January 10th the crew will depart from Progress by ship and the ETA to
St. Petersburg is February 9th.
