These sisters have adopted St. Catherine of Siena's famous description of the Pope as "Dolce Cristo in terra" to greet Benedict, asking him to guide them upwards. ( Photo from the Vatican website)

These pictures cannot have been from Candlemas, as the Pope is wearing a different miter and cope from what he did wear Thursday - but the pictures are literally wonderful! (Variants of the pix also appear in Sylvie's montage of Candlemas, but I suspect the news agency re-ran some photos from a previous occasion so they could show the Pope holding a candle himself.)

What BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL PICS...
The one where his eyes are closed has me in a fit of total ... well what? Let's say total agape.
Thanks Lutheran Guest. I'm sure even Martin Luther would have loved him! |

BEAUTIFUL DREAMER
Was Papa nodding off during Candlemas in that photo with his eyes shut? Poor thing, he did look tired during the ceremony. He is definitely working too hard.

For very moving (literally and figuratively) photo accounts of papa at Candlemas, don't fail to watch and download Beatrice's
'animated" sequences in IMAGES of the French section - first, of Sylvie's video-cap series, and then, of Papa saying Mass. |

VISIT NESSUNA'S 'FOTOGALERIA" Girls, please don't fail to regularly visit the 'FOTOGALERIA' thread in the Spanish section - which right now is singlehandedly run by our supercharged Nessuna, who has also managed to make stunning enlargements of Papa's photos which distinguishes her FOTOGALERIA from the other picture threads. And her enlargements have no distracting watermarks!
BTW, LutheranGuest, MILLE GRA(T)ZIE for your large-format pic above, which is SUPERLATIVE (And I don't think it is a re-post) - even the watermark, which is relatively 'well-placed', cannot detract or distract from Papa's joyous radiance. UMMMM...COCCOLOSSISSIMO!!!! [Modificato da TERESA BENEDETTA 09/02/2006 1.08] |
